EG Looks Back at 2023 Accomplishments

East Gwillimbury recently released the 2023 Strategic Plan Annual Report which highlights municipal accomplishments over the past year. The Report is part of the Town’s commitment to share updates with the community as part of the 2022 to 2026 Strategic Plan.

2023 was the first full year of the Strategic Plan and the work completed will help set the stage for the remainder of the Council Term. The projects included in the Report took significant staff time and effort throughout the year.

Mayor Hackson returns from short-term leave

Effective today, Mayor Virginia Hackson has returned to her mayoral role from her short-term medical leave. Mayor Hackson would like to thank Council and staff for their assistance during this time, specifically Councillor Scott Crone and Councillor Brian Johns who served as Acting Mayor during her absence. Mayor Hackson also thanks the community for their support and well wishes.

Statement Regarding Passing of Former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney

The Town of East Gwillimbury expresses our sincerest condolences on the passing of former Canadian Prime Minister, the Right Honourable Brian Mulroney. Mr. Mulroney was the 18th prime minister from 1984 to 1993 and was known for his focus on economic policies, environmental activism, and free trade agreements. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time. 

Flags have been lowered at all Town facilities in honour of Mr. Mulroney. A book of condolences will be available on Monday, March 5 at MPP
